Week 4

This week, I really enjoyed learning about the different site builders and hosts that exist. I enjoyed walking through the different sites and determining which would be best to build the business that I want to do. It's pretty neat how different sites work better for different types of businesses. 

I also thought the spreadsheet was so cool -- it was awesome to see how different things that I explored would actually perform, or were forecasted to perform, in a real market. I was surprised from the results -- apparently, jewelry is a big business, especially vintage jewelry and rings. I really enjoy using the keyword planner to find different types of businesses that would be most profitable to run or most successful to try to open over the next couple weeks.

I'm excited to continue bringing my website to life. I decided to use Shopify to build it because I have experience with it. It's super easy to use and it's so easy to connect it to dropshipping suppliers. It's purely for ecommerce so it's really intuitive that way -- more so than SquareSpace or Wix or Weebly.

Week 10

 This week we started our ads campaign!! Even though I didn’t really expect much, I was surprised at the reach and the clicks on my ads. It was cool that something so relatively easy can make such a big difference when you’re trying to sell stuff. I’m sure almost nobody would find or visit my website without the ads. Something I’m excited to start doing is offering holiday gifts. I’m hoping that if I do that, I’ll start to see more sales. I think it’d be fun to also figure out ways to design my own jewelry and sell it. I really enjoyed figuring out how to install the analytics tracker. I also think it’s so cool that I can see how many people are clicking on ads, and it’s especially cool that it’ll track how many people make it to the checkout page!! That’s such a cool feature, and I really think that’ll be the most accurate gauge of how many people are actually buying stuff. I’m really excited to see the data that I get from it!! I’m looking forward to next week :)

Week 6

This week, I learned that I can understand taxes and legal structures, but it's the least interesting part of business for me. If I really do end up owning my own business, I am definitely going to have to outsource that, because I was low-key dying just to understand the basics. I definitely know the importance of understanding the basics though -- it's important to have all the information you can so that you can make better decisions. Like President Nelson said, good inspiration is based on good information. It also makes it harder for people to take advantage of you, and easier to make sure you're actually living by your own values and being honest in your dealings with others. That being said, it was not my favorite week of reading material. I am exceptionally glad I never decided to study law or business law, or TAX LAW. Because wow. Week 7

 This week I did a lot of thinking about key words. I've tried to run ad campaigns before, but never with any luck. I think what was really missing was the right key words. I also don't think I targeted the right age group or the right demographic. This has taught me how important it is to niche down. So often I've found myself trying to be everything for everyone. This is neither effective nor possible. It's important to find the people that are looking for your product and focus on them and nobody else. You will do much more with your business and your life if you do what you're good at and ignore all the rest of it.  I think this is a good lesson for life and business!
